Street Photography & Creative Insights

Welcome

Thank you for stopping by. I’m Adam.

I am an avid street photographer. I’m fascinated by how people interact with the urban environment and the stories that come out of urban landscape photography.

When it comes to reviews, I only review gear I have personally bought, and share how I use it to be creative in the urban landscape.

So, I recently had this incredible experience with Red Bean Productions in Brisbane, and I just have to spill the beans (pun intended). They are definitely bold, and definitely different. Leica Rangefinder Fan

I’m an avid fan of Leica gear and after using loads of compacts and DSLRs from Canon, Nikon and others, I have settled on the Leica M system.

What I love about it is the timelessness of the lenses, and that I am able to shoot with a system similar to that which was used decades ago. Leica Ms rely 100% on the skills of the photographer…

…the result is always 100% your own work, not the work of computers in the camera.

Camera Film Reviews

This is not the Ilford, ahem, Harman colour film I’m looking for. I’ve been trying out Harman’s Phoenix 200 film and it’s not what I was hoping for. It doesn’t seem to have a unique quality, rather it seems to be trying too hard to have too many of them...

A slight shock to the system recently about one of my favourite colour films. If anyone can shed further light on this it would be appreciated, please comment below. Who is now making Fuji C200 Film? This week I bought some new Fuji 200. By chance I happened to have...

The dream of the 90s is alive with Kodak Ultramax 400. I actually get rather nostalgic for consumer grade films that were available when I was growing up in the 1990s and 2000s. The results, as in the general look of the photographs that I get from these films is...

Are you looking for a new way to achieve a cinematic look to your still photos? Cinestill 50D is repackaged Kodak Vision 3 50D (aka Kodak 5203/7203) colour negative motion picture film. Cinestill is buying Vision 3 50D film from Kodak and removing the rem-jet backing which is present on...

Lets talk about the Leica S1, a forgotten gem in digital camera history. Leica is a brand synonymous with the iconic 35mm handheld photography, has been a trailblazer in the photography world. When you embark on the journey of photography, the significance of lenses becomes undeniably clear. After testing, I am confident to say this lens is sharp all the way from F2.8 to F16 and only falls over when you each F22. My test wasn’t exactly scientific. I’m not a pixel peeper. I don’t buy lenses just to test them. I buy lenses to use them....

Kodak Portra is a professional level film admired for it’s high level of detail from a very fine grain, smooth, natural colours but still with a bit of punch and richness, open shadows without crushed blacks and for being hard to blow out highlights. All this makes for a beautifully...

So…I got to try a Noctilux! But unfortunately only for 1 hour. The Leica Noctilux is the lens most Leica users strive for. At nearly $A15,000 new, this is a 50mm price F0.95. Yep, thats right, F0.95. I don’t techically know how a lens can go below F1.0 (which is...

My Favourite Type of Photography

Street photography. Especially at night.

One of the things I love to do is walk around after sunset and photograph all the lights, shadows and look for whatever we don’t normally notice about what is happening after dark in public areas.
