My Must-Attend Event of the Year: PhotoCo Adelaide Camera Expo 2023!

Hey fellow photography enthusiasts of Adelaide! I’m bursting with excitement and I just have to share why – the Adelaide Camera Expo (ACE) is coming back and it’s shaping up to be the highlight of our photographic calendars in SA. Clear your plans for Sunday, November 26th, 2023, because that’s when we’re all converging at the iconic Central Market for the biggest camera expo South Australia has ever seen.

See the video, that’s me buying my M10 in 2018.

Big shout out to Luke and his family at PhotoCo for organising the event. It’s a great event, and let me tell you if you are looking for the best prices on Leica camera gear in Adelaide they are the place to go too. They are also able to get things much faster than other stores and sort out any issues with the manufacturers on customers’ behalf very quickly. I have experienced it, and always very grateful to them and their team.

I’ve been counting down the days, and here’s why you should too: We’ll all have the chance to snag those photography gear deals we’ve been dreaming of, without breaking the bank, but it is a great time to try out all the gear in our time. And, the speakers at the expo based on previous years are second to none.

I’ve missed it for a few years due to the COVID pandemic, but now its back for the 3rd time.

Walking into ACE feels like stepping into a photographer’s wonderland. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or if you’re the seasoned pro – there’s something for everyone. In 2018 and 2019, I was like a kid in a candy store, and this year promises to be even more thrilling with the array of tech and tools on display.

Picture this: hands-on testing of the latest camera bodies and lenses from top-tier brands like Canon, Nikon, and Sony. But that’s not all – we’re talking about immersing ourselves in the craft with specialty equipment from Leica, playing with the quirkiest LensBaby optics, and even exploring the analogue magic of Lomography.

And for those of you, like me, who love a bit of nostalgia or are hunting for a bargain, the second-hand dealers at the expo are a treasure trove. Last time, I found an amazing vintage Leica that has been on my shelf on display in pride of place since then.

Beyond the gear, there’s the knowledge-sharing aspect that I absolutely adore. The expo isn’t just about buying and selling; it’s about growing as a photographer. I’m looking forward to connecting with educational institutions offering courses that could take our photography game to the next level.

I’m already planning to refuel with some delicious eats from the Central Market – because shopping for camera gear is serious business, and we’ll all need our energy. Plus, the live music and local beverages will surely make the atmosphere even more delightful.

So why am I telling you all this? Because I know I’m not the only one out there in Adelaide with a passion for capturing moments, and the Adelaide Camera Expo is our annual pilgrimage. It’s our chance to network, snag deals, and be inspired by the guest speakers who’ve mastered the art of photography.

Remember to mark the date, and maybe I’ll see you there? Let’s not let this opportunity click away. Head over to https://www.adelaidecameraexpo.com.au/ for the latest updates and schedule of events.

I’m already buzzing with anticipation to see what this year’s Adelaide Camera Expo has in store for us. It’s more than just an event – it’s where we all come together for our shared passion. Let’s make it a day of unforgettable memories and incredible finds. I can’t wait to immerse myself in everything photography with you all at ACE 2023! Hope to see you there.

Who is the host, PhotoCo?

Well, PhotoCo is my favourite camera store for a start. Located in Adelaide Central Market, they are oldest camera store in South Australia, founded in 1967.

In the realm of photographic retail, PhotoCo stands out as a Pro-Stockist for leading brands such as Leica, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony, and Fuji. This designation is a mark of quality and trust, highlighting PhotoCo’s position at the forefront of the photographic industry.

As the keeper of the largest second-hand collection of 35mm, 120, and Large Format cameras, lenses, and accessories in SA, PhotoCo also offers photographers a treasure trove of vintage and rare finds. The shop further supports the analogue photography community by providing supplies for home developing and printing, alongside an on-site colour lab capable of both film developing and printing.

PhotoCo’s story is not just about cameras and equipment; it’s about the memories created and captured. It’s a story interwoven with the lives of photographers throughout South Australia, who rely on PhotoCo’s deep roots in the photographic tradition and look forward to its continued legacy in the future. In a rapidly evolving industry, PhotoCo remains a beacon for both the timeless tradition of photography and the exploration of its future. It is more than a camera store; it is a vibrant focal point for the photographic art form, nurturing the community’s passion for capturing the world through the lens.

Everything I write about is my own opinion or things I’ve either researched, taken a picture of, seen news about, and want to share. Let’s keep the conversation going, post a comment below.
